Michigan Lean Consortium, Mercy Health Muskegon, Mercy Health St. Mary’ have partnered to provide a Healthcare Kata Practitioner training event on October 27, 2017 at Mercy Health Muskegon. Thank you to Mercy Muskegon for hosting this event!

Healthcare Kata Practitioners will share their experience building proficiency among kata learners and coaches and present their challenges and successes experienced in specific storyboards regarding the development of challenges, actual and target conditions, obstacle parking lots and PDCA Cycles.

Participants will understand the specific coaching behaviors and tactics that were used to overcome obstacles such as lack of learner interest, poor quality or infrequent experiments, challenges that don't include a business objective, lack of coaches, lack of clarifying questions from coaches, target conditions without a process map, etc.

There will a breakout session where participants can choose:

1. Kata Simulation: Hands-On Challenge: We will be working in small groups to learn the steps of the Improvement Kata and the Coaching Kata through the execution of a hands-on task.

or

2. Virtual Gemba: Watch a Kata coaching cycle in action. Two groups of coaches and learners from Mercy Health Muskegon will perform a real-time coaching cycle at their story board.

The day will end with a Panel Q & A session. The Panel will consist of experienced KATA Practitioners from both Mercy Health and MLC.
