Targeted Audience: Zero, Beginner, and Intermediate
Lean practitioners Participants should have some knowledge of lean concepts, such as continuous improvement and respect for people. This session will highlight hands on approach of visual management from two lean practitioners who have developed and coached hundreds of MDI boards. From high level strategy to frontline process control boards. Learn the elements of MDI, identifying problems, listening to your customer, and identifying what work-a-rounds does your team see as "normal?"
Lorelei Vargo is currently a Supply Chain Services Improvement Specialist with Spectrum Health. Lorelei has 18 years of experience in various types of industries to include Healthcare, non-profit and education. Her positions have included Process Engineer, Project Coordinator, and Co-founder of an International non-profit. Lorelei has facilitated Lean in various areas of Healthcare, including Supply Chain Services, Human Resources, Revenue Cycle, Neuroscience, Emergency Department, Surgery, Lab, Radiology, Registration, and Scheduling. She earned her MBA from Cornerstone University and is Bronze certified with the ASQ - AME - SHINGO INSTITUTE – SME.
Todd Lamer is a Sr. Improvement Specialist at Spectrum Health, where Todd currently leads the process improvement learning for Continuing Care and Healthier Communities through the use of visual management and sustainment of improvements through respectful leadership support.
Todd has been with Spectrum Health for 20 years, the most recent 7 has been with the process improvement department where he has supported various service lines, among them are emergency services, post-acute pediatric specialties, transport services, supply chain conveyance, acute and post-acute adult services. With the use of visual management and managing for daily improvement methods, Todd has empowered these teams to deliver significant improvements in service and care delivery in the healthcare setting.
Todd is an avid Michigan shore fisherman, in his free time he can be found using PDSA thinking while enjoying this hobby.
