The Sr. Specialist, Operational Excellence will be responsible for developing and deploying Operational Excellence (OE) strategy to enhance organizational effectiveness. In additional the position will be responsible for leading operational and business process development through continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale. The position will coordinate and facilitate internal and external learning and development opportunities related to OE concepts and methodologies strategically aligned to the needs of the Value Stream and corporate OE goals / objectives, in addition to developing and leading communication campaigns focused on Operational Excellence.

Responsibilites

OE Leadership

  • Design learning and development / application and change management strategies in conjunction with functional areas and key stakeholders to convey expectations, maximize engagement and optimize standards.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution, from start to completion, of OE initiatives

o Lead the development and deployment of systems to ensure sustainable compliance and continuous improvement processes over time including communicating and fostering site-wide recognition of OE

o Designs sustainable systems for the tracking and reporting of value resulting from OE. Reports on related quantifiable goals and metrics

  • Integrates Learning and Development opportunities with site strategy and employee / team needs. Coordinates prioritization / planning of OE activities related to the needs of value stream / business objectives
  • Oversight of OE communication and outreach:

o Collaborates with functional / site leadership, integrated teams / system owners for the development of internal customer communication

o Works directly with management and key stakeholders to understand needs, identify gaps and opportunities related to business process performance

  • Benchmarks industry practices and external expertise to identify future organizational opportunities

Leadership

  • Coaching at all levels of the organization on OE principles, tools and application
  • Assist leadership with strategy development and deployment through facilitation of appropriate OE standards / tools.
  • Change agent: Promote excellence, challenge traditional thinking, boundaries and modes of operation.
  • Engage with corporate OE cross-functional team to develop OE areas of focus and deployment strategy

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and experience in OE fundamentals, concepts and facilitation.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean, or equivalent certification required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility in Operational Excellence program management, leading / developing Learning and Development and educational programs.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Type/keyboard, visual acuity, good eye/hand coordination, stand, walk, sit, twist/turn, climb, reach outward, reach above shoulder, hand dexterity, bend, squat/kneel, sense of feel, sense of hearing, lift/carry 25 lbs, and pull 50 lbs. Use phone , copier, and computer. Organize/coordinate, analyze/interpret, calibrate precise measurements, problem solve, make decisions, supervise, plan, communicate, prepare written communications, and prepare transaction documents. Drive automatic/standard vehicle. Work outdoors, around noise above conversation level, in hot/cold temperatures, in high humidity, where ventilation is needed, in multiple locations, with restricted access to laboratory, and with exposure to animals, animal areas, or equipment used in animal areas.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The position provides training, facilitation, and coaching services to clients, including instruction in organizational development, quality systems, continuous improvement, and individual development.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES and LICENSES

    Required:

    •Associates degree in related field or comparable experience

    •Experience with lean or other continuous improvement methodologies

    •Two to five years of experience in manufacturing or processing industries

    Preferred:

    •Bachelor's degree

    •Experience using on-line or blended learning to deliver training and or coaching remotely

    •Experience with quality systems such as ISO, TS, or AS certifications

    •Experience with training in leadership and teams

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.

    WORK HOURS:

    This is a full-time, 40+ hour per week position.
