Topic: Lessons of the Red Beads

Dr. Deming’s Red Bead Experiment is a timeless demonstration of the impacts of managing without an understanding of the system of profound knowledge. We will discuss an overview of the System of Profound knowledge and how “red beads” are everywhere in our work and personal lives.

Jerry has experience teaching, coaching, and implementing lean systems thinking in pharmaceutical manufacturing, health care, and manufacturing across the country. He is currently the Continuous Improvement Leader at Orchid Orthopedics in Holt. Jerry has been a member of the Michigan Lean Consortium (MLC) events committee and he was the 2015 volunteer of the year. Jerry’s passion is teaching Deming principals and lean as well as facilitating improvement activities. He has presented at numerous MLC events including the 2017 lean bronze pathways series and Healthcare Kata Practitioner Day. Jerry has co-facilitated versions of Dr. Deming’s Red Bead Experiment across the state including at the 2016 annual Deming Conference in East Lansing. Jerry has both an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in business administration from Baker College and a Master’s of Education in Instructional Design from Western Governors University. Jerry also serves on the board of directors for the Institute for Quality and Innovation (IQI) in Lansing.
