Michigan's First Change Summit Is in the Books
On September 25, change leaders from across the state filled the Microsoft Innovation Hub at Campus Martius for ACMP Michigan's inaugural Change Summit, Driving Change: Enabling Adoption, Innovation & Impact. The Michigan Lean Consortium was there as a proud sponsor.
Three Pillars, One Very Full Day
This wasn't a day of theory. The summit was built around what actually works when organizations take on change, organized into three pillars:
- Adoption: the human side of change, and how to move people from awareness to action so it sticks.
- Innovation: how AI and new technology are reshaping organizations, and what change leaders should do about it.
- Impact: proving value and delivering results you can measure.
If that sounds familiar to the Lean crowd, it should. Respect for people, sustaining the gains, and showing results are the same things we talk about every day. Change management and Lean are two lanes on the same road.
The Magic Happened in the Hallways

The sessions were packed with ideas people could use the next morning. But the thing everyone kept coming back to was simpler: being in the same room.
Attendees finally met faces they'd only seen in little Zoom squares. Hallway chats turned into real problem-solving. One presenter summed it up well, noting that those in-the-moment conversations just don't happen the same way on a screen.
The theme that ran through the day? Keep people at the center of change. Sessions like The Missing Playbook zeroed in on the behaviors of people leaders, because change only works when the people living it are supported.
Thanks to Everyone Who Made It Go
Congratulations to ACMP Michigan, its board, volunteers, and planning committee for pulling off a first-year event that felt like it had been running for a decade.
And thank you to Microsoft for opening the doors of the Innovation Hub and giving the day a home in the heart of Detroit.
Keep the Momentum Rolling
Michigan's change and Lean communities have a lot to learn from each other, and this summit proved how much energy there is when we get in the same room. We can't wait for the next one.
